As administrative partner for August Capital, Mark structures the legal process for its investments and is the firm's liaison to the financial and legal communities. Mark is also responsible for all of August Capital's legal, financial and administrative matters and counsels portfolio companies on related issues.

Prior to working with Dave Marquardt and John Johnston to found August Capital, Mark had been administrative partner at Technology Venture Investors (TVI). He joined TVI in 1985 and continues to serve in that capacity on a part-time basis for the TVI partnerships.

Prior to Mark's venture capital career, he served as CFO and general counsel for two venture-backed Silicon Valley computer companies, Synapse Computer and System Industries. He was also a lawyer in private practice and a pharmaceutical industry process engineer.

Mark holds a JD from Stanford University (1976) and a BSChE from the University of California at Berkeley (1970). Mark is a past president and member of the board of directors of the Santa Clara Valley chapter of Financial Executives International.
